Elks Scholarships

  • Most Valuable Student (any student) and Legacy Awards (student related to Elk member) contests
  • Seniors pursuing a four-year degree on a full-time basis
  • $1,000-$12,000 per year for four years

Gerard J Buckenmeyer FASNY Volunteer Scholarship

  • Senior planning to attend an accredited two- or four-year college or accredited post-secondary school in Fall 2018
  • Member or parent/guardian member of Fireman’s Association of NYS
  • Currently serving with a volunteer fire department or EMS unit
  • Demonstrated commitment to volunteer emergency service and community
  • 25 $1,500 scholarships

  • Deadline: March, 15. 2018

Ned Carter Memorial Scholarship

  • Seniors who will be attending a two- or four-year college pursuing  a career in a community service related discipline
  • Related to a firefighter, be a firefighter, or be an Explorer in a fire department or fire district that is currently a paid up member of the Association of Fie Districts of the State of New York
  • All parts of application must be submitted as a single package
  • Application is available online or in the Guidance Office
  • Deadline: Applications must be postmarked February 24, 2018

Central New York Leatherstocking Chapter of American Society of Military Comptrollers

  • Seniors pursuing a four-year college degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or economics
  • Three local scholarships—$300, $250, and $200
  • Two local winners advance to national level—one $3000, five $2,000, five $1,000 (top six may reapply to receive 50% for next three years)
  • Must include two letters of recommendation
  • Application is available in the Guidance Office
  • Deadline: postmarked February 28,2018

Amy Bindelglass Memorial Scholarship

  • Juniors and seniors who write a compelling, persuasive, 750-word essay debunking myths surrounding eye and tissue donations
  • $750 award to the top applicant
  • More information is available in the Guidance Office
  • Deadline: postmarked or emailed March 30, 2018

Mohawk Community Club Award

  • Graduating senior with a minimum 80 GPA
  • $2,000 award
  • Must include parent signature, two recommendations from high school and/or community at large, and list of extracurricular/community activities
  • One page, typed essay on the topic “Why is it important for you to be involved in the community in which you live?”
  • Application is available in the Guidance Office
  • Deadline: submitted to Guidance Office by the end of school April 12, 2018

Sharon Hughes Memorial Scholarship

  • Graduating senior girl planning to attend Herkimer College full-time with a major in Business or Liberal Arts-Humanities
  • $100 per year for two years
