It’s a four-peat.
For the fourth consecutive year, Central Valley School District has earned the Utica National Insurance Group School Safety Excellence Award. Central Valley is one of 136 school districts and BOCES in New York to receive the 2017 award at the Titanium with Honors level.
Business Manager Ken Long learned of the award from Utica National and shared the news with the board of education at its regular meeting on Wednesday, Mar. 29.
Each year, the company recognizes school districts for their efforts as they work to help keep students, staff and visitors safe. Central Valley received the award and a $500 prize presented at Utica National’s 37th annual school safety seminar at the Double Tree Inn, Syracuse, NY.
Although the company insures more than 300 school districts, less than half qualify for the award. The award applauds school districts that go ‘above and beyond’ to provide a safe, healthy and focused culture for learning. It also helps districts focus on a safety program that helps pinpoint potential safety threats before something happens.
“Central Valley has earned this award all four years of our existence. It demonstrates this district’s commitment to keep our students safe,” said Long.
