Sophomores explore career options

So what does the healthcare field look like up close? Is this something I would like as a career? Students got a little closer to those answers thanks to their visit to Bassett Healthcare.

On Thursday, Mar 16, some CVA sophomores had a chance to look more closely at career options. The students toured Utica Zoo, Bassett Healthcare, WKTV and Herkimer Working Solutions through the Herkimer BOCES School to Career program.

The CVA guidance staff offered all sophomores the opportunity to tour a business related to their career field of interest. When students complete the next round of tours, a total of 85 will have participated. Students initially took an interest survey which narrowed their career interests down to a career cluster (learn more about career clusters). Each took a business tour based upon the cluster.

“This opportunity gives sophomores the opportunity to make connections between careers and education but also introduces professions to students,” said CVA guidance counselor Shannon Darrow.
