11th Mott Marathon is another success

The 2017 Mott Marathon set new records for the number of senior runners (53) and the number of finishers (44) all while raising more than $2,500 for American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.

Tyler Rhude, the fastest finisher (3:51:21) kept a promise made earlier in the year to win the race. In second, Ben Stone (5:15:11) was the 200th finisher in the marathon’s 11 years. Third place Kevin Diedrick (5:16:06) earned the title Ultravolcano Champion for being the senior with best combined times in the marathon and the Geology Club’s Volcano Run. Anna Engel (5:45:55) was the top female finisher. See a complete list of runners and their times.

Other highlights included the return of three alumni. Brandy Torres completed her third Mott Marathon, the first as a senior and the next two as an alumnus. Ten relay teams made up of school staff, alumni, and community members also completed the course.
