On Tuesday, Mar. 21, Central Valley's Director of Facilities Gordon Miller accepted the Utica National Insurance Group's Titanium with Honors "School Safety Excellence Award" for 2023. Mr. Miller accepted the award on behalf of the district while attending a Utica National Safety meeting. The award includes a certificate and a plaque and a $500 award for use in furthering school safety efforts.

Utica National presents the honor annually to districts and BOCES that demonstrate a commitment to help keep students, staff and visitors safe. Only half of the districts Utica National insures receive this honor.

Under the program, Utica National uses specific, quantifiable surveys to evaluate bullying prevention programs, playground safety and other areas.

"Our number one priority is to keep our students and staff safe," said District Business Administrator Jim Humphrey. Mr. Humphrey has oversight of district safety.

"This award reflects the efforts of Gordy and his facilities staff, Chad Francisco and his transportation staff, and our building administrators and staff to meet that high safety standard. We are pleased and proud to receive this award."
