Congratulations to the CVA Envirothon team of Gianna Frank, Kaelin Napoli, Madison Obreza, Ayesha Rana, and Kiera Wilbur for advancing to the final round of the New York State Envirothon competition. This team of first-year competitors finished 16th in the state.

Envirothon is an annual environmentally themed academic competition for high school aged students from across the United States and Canada. County winners advance to the state competion. The top teams from the two nations compete each summer.

During the competition, each team must complete five written field tests, each dealing with a different topic—aquatic ecology, forestry, soils and land use, wildlife and a current topic. These tests consist of various question types, including identifications and hands-on assessments. Each team makes an oral presentation on the current issue topic to a panel of judges.

Due to COVID, the 2021 competition was held online via Zoom.
