Dear Central Valley CSD Community,

With incredible sadness, I must share that one of our high school students died unexpectedly on Friday, Oct. 1. Our sincere condolences and thoughts go out to the family and friends of our student. Many in our school and community will be grieving and struggling to cope with this tragedy, and we want you to know that we are here for you and your family at this time.

We are ready to help everyone, especially our children. Our school psychologists, social workers, and counselors are available to support all Central Valley students. We have set aside separate spaces at CVA staffed with counselors for students and staff who may be struggling. Please, reach out if you or your child are not feeling well in any way.

We encourage parents to take time to talk with your child. Simply sharing thoughts and feelings about death can help your child work through a difficult situation.

Finally, we ask that everyone avoid discussing this on social media. This only leads to unfounded speculation and adds to the difficulty of those family and friends closest to the tragedy. We also ask everyone to respect the family’s privacy. Even the best intentions can overwhelm the family as they grieve.

Our community shares a deep love for our young people. They are our future. Times such as these are difficult a reminder of how much they need our support. We will gather as a school and a community to support them as best we can.
