It was a simple idea—CVA's Key Club would collect some items to support the people of Ukraine.
Club members put out a couple of empty copy paper boxes by the main office. Soon they were full; so members put out a couple of more boxes. They, too, were suddenly full. The group ran out of boxes and started using garbage bags. In just a few days, the plan to deliver the collection in a car was replaced with a request to CVA's Buildings and Ground department for a truck.
Club members gathered up the mounds of items on Thursday, Mar. 24. School staff will drop them off on Friday with a group that will ship the needed items to Ukrainian refugees scattered by the war.
Key Club advisor Kelley Macisco was surprised, saying "Key Club would like to thank the entire Central Valley community for their very generous donations for the people of Ukraine. We were overwhelmed by everyone's generosity."
Key Club members around the world are learning how to lead and stand for what’s right through service and volunteerism. In partnership with their local Kiwanis club, high school students are making a positive impact as they serve others in their schools and communities.
