On Sunday, Jan. 8, Mohawk Police learned that a Jarvis Middle School student had sent a threatening message to another Jarvis student. The police investigated and confiscated a BB gun. Mohawk PD has determined there is no immediate threat to the student body.

Central Valley School officials want everyone to know they have taken appropriate action to ensure students and staff are safe to resume school on Monday, Jan. 9.

"We want everyone to know that everyone is safe to come to school on Monday," said Central Valley Superintendent Jeremy Rich.

"The police were quick to respond to the threat and eliminate any risk to our students and staff. We especially want to thank the department for their efforts to keep our schools safe."

On Sunday, January 8, 2023, Mohawk PD received a report from a Village resident regarding a threatening message that was received by a student who attends Jarvis Middle School in Mohawk.

With the assistance of the Jarvis Middle School administration, Mohawk PD was able to quickly identify the sender who is another student who resides outside the Village.

During the course of the investigation, a handgun style BB gun was seized. It was determined there is no known, immediate threat to the student body at this time.

Due to the age of the sender, the name cannot be released.
