Parents and guardians of Jarvis Middle School sixth graders have until 3 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 19, 2014 to provide Jarvis school nurse Linda Kudrewicz with proof that their children have received a Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis (TdaP) vaccination. Children without appropriate documentation will not be allowed to attend classes beginning on Sept. 24, 2014.
Under New York State law, all students entering sixth grade must receive a TdaP immunization in order to attend school.
“Last spring and again this fall, we sent a letter parents explaining the requirement. On Wednesday morning, we sent out a School Messenger notice stating the same,” said Principal Melissa Hoskey.
“Unfortunately, we still have a list of students without the appropriate documentation. Most have had their vaccinations, but their parents simply haven’t submitted the necessary proof. It may sound harsh, but the law is clear. Without that proof, a child may not attend school.
“We are doing our best to contact all parents to avoid having our students miss even one day of school.”
Anyone with questions or needing assistance may contact nurse Linda Kudrewicz at 866-2620 x 85911.
