The school launched its “Buy a Heart–Save a Heart” campaign, inviting individuals and families to purchased heart to hang in the technology lab windows. The windows filled quickly with hearts remembering and honoring loved ones who suffered from heart disease, stroke and cardiovascular disease. Those without personal ties to the disease purchased hearts sponsoring Brook’s Miles, the combined Barringer and Fisher team that walked in the America’s Greatest and Run Walk on Saturday, Mar. 5 in Utica. Students joined in purchasing heart-shaped lollipops with proceeds sponsoring the team.

Heart disease is America’s #1 cause of death and stroke is #5.

“As always the Barringer Road family steps up to help those in need and does its part in making our community a great place to live,” said Barringer teacher Maggie Wesolowski who helped spearhead the campaign.
