Big ears, big dreams

photo of students with big paper ears photo of students with big paper earsOn the last day of school before Thanksgiving break, students in Stacy Willis’ third grade class had fun, wrapping up their reading of BFG by Roald Dahl.

BFG tells the tale of Big Friendly Giant (BFG), a 24-foot tall giant with large ears and superhuman hearing. BFG captures good dreams in the day, then at night blows the dreams into children’s bedrooms. Unlike his fellow giants who eat people or steal food from humans, he eats a nasty-smelling vegetable, the snozzcumber. A little orphan girl Sophie sees BFG…(Enough of the story—you’ll have to read it for yourself!)

Ms. Willis’ class made giant-ear headbands and worked on various projects related to the story. The lessons stressed creativity, writing, comprehension and fun!
