Bodwell named DAR good citizen

DAR representative Carolyn Beran presents the DAR Citizen Award to senior Phillip Bodwell.

CVA senior Philip Bodwell has been named the recipient of the Col. Marinus Willett-Mohawk Valley Chapter’s Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizens Award. The award recognizes an outstanding young person in the senior class who demonstrates qualities of a good citizen—dependability, service, leadership and patriotism—through their contributions to the school and community. Award recipients are also able to participate in the the scholarship portion of the program. Scholarship applicants submit a detailed list of academic and civic accomplishments and future plans with letters of recommendation and a 550-word essay.

Philip takes a full schedule of Advanced Placement, College Now and Honors courses. He is the captain of the soccer team, a starter on the basketball team and a Tri-Varsity Athlete. He is a member of symphonic band, Drama Club, Chamber Choir, National Honor Society and Key Club. He also works on his family’s dairy farm.

Philip is the son of Daniel and Elma Bodwell, of Ilion.
