Central Valley introduces “Sun Safety Awareness Program”

If you see your child playing with matches, you instantly stop them, take the matches away, and teach them about the dangers of fire. If you were to see your child smoking, you would instantly stop them, take the cigarettes away, and teach them about the dangers of cancers and other smoking related diseases.

What if you knew that your child could be harmed in just a few minutes in the sun?  (As few as 15-20 minutes of unprotected exposure to the sun can damage our skin.) Wouldn’t you step in and protect them?

That is the motivation behind Central Valley’s Sun Safety Awareness Program. The program will teach the importance of protecting our skin, provide sunscreen at all playgrounds and athletic fields, ensure skin checks are part of school physicals, and help students develop a routine of protecting their skin.
