Barringer Road invites community to cheer on Ride for Missing Children

Barringer Road and Central Valley invite the community to line the streets in support of the Ride for Missing Children as it raises money and awareness to help in the safe return of lost and abducted children.

On June 2, 2017, nearly 500 Ride for Missing Children bicyclists will pedal into and out of Ilion, stopping at Barringer Road Elementary School from 2:15 until 2:50.

Barringer Road students will cheer the riders on, decorate the school with support signs, hold a massive balloon launch to honor those children who are still missing; and take a group picture to honor all those children who have been found since the ride began 21 years ago.

For safety, local law enforcement will stop traffic coming into Barringer Road School 2-3:30 p.m. that day.  Traffic in town will also be interrupted as riders travel the streets 2:00-2:15 and again when they depart the village 2:45-3:10.

Riders will enter Ilion from Frankfort via East Main St., turn right up Barringer Rd., and continue straight to Barringer Road School.  When they depart Barringer Road School, they will turn left on Barringer Rd., turn right onto Second St. and continue all the way to Otsego.  They will turn left on Otsego St., turn left on West Main St. (Rite Aid corner) and continue out of town toward Frankfort (passing the Ice Cream Station on the right, the Elk’s Club on their left, and the Salvation Army on their right).  Please expect traffic delays along the route as the riders enter and leave town.

Community spectators should park on side streets along the route, then walk out to the street where riders will pass.  Cheer and hold signs to support them as they ride.

The staff at Central Valley is very excited and we hope everyone can be a part of this important and worthwhile event.
