CVA freshman Anna Mead and junior Courtney Beach will display their works at the upcoming 34th Annual Congressional Institute Art Competition at Herkimer College’s Cogar Art Gallery.

The artists, their parents and CVA art teacher Winnie Dunn-Jones will attend an awards ceremony in March where six students will receive a medal and will move on to the regional competition held at the Munson Williams Pratt School of Art. The date is to be announced. Winners continue on to compete at the state level. State winners are displayed for one year at the U.S. Capitol.

Each spring, the Congressional Institute sponsors a nationwide high school visual art competition to recognize and encourage artistic talent in the nation and in each congressional district. Since the competition began in 1982, more than 650,000 high school students have participated.
