On Monday, May 26, the CVA Symphonic Band honored our community’s veterans by performing in the village of Mohawk’s Memorial Day Parade.
“It was an honor for us to march in this parade to honor all those who serve and have served,” said Band Director Michael Fenton.
Mr. Fenton added that the students really did a great job and he received numerous compliments. At the conclusion of the parade, the band played “The Spangled Banner” as part of a memorial service at the Mohawk cemetery. Band members William Paddock and Nicholas Higgins played taps while the members of the Mohawk American Legion conducted a flag ceremony.
Central Valley community member Marsha Griffith told Mr. Fenton, “It was with great pride that I watched the CVA Marching Band in Mohawk’s Memorial Day Parade. Their performance and behavior both while marching down Main Street and while in the Mohawk Cemetery was wonderful. Please accept my thanks to you and the students for keeping this fine tradition alive in our communities.”
