More than 60 campers, ages 5-14, turned out for the fourth CVA summer soccer camp held Aug. 8-11 on Lower Tolpa Field in Mohawk. Area coaches and current area players led four days of skill building and fun.
The first three days were dedicated to practicing and developing ball handling and team skills. Thursday night featured age-group games, concessions, and the 12th Annual Alumni Classic game. The game featured Ilion, Mohawk, and CVA alumni from the last 21 years. Those from odd years squared off against alumni from even years, with the odds winning in a shootout 10-9.
The CVA Boys Soccer Booster Club sponsored the camp, the 23rd hosted by CVA soccer coach and English teacher Jim Mott.
“This camp helps develop skills and builds interest in our school soccer program. These younger players are the future of Central Valley soccer and we want to give them the tools to make the most of their athletic careers,” said Mr. Mott.
