For the fourth straight year, the Central Valley Academy Student Council took time out from regular classwork to share a little happiness at the holidays.
On Thursday, Dec. 22, 21 Student Council members and advisers Jon Cole and Bill Obernesser visited 50 elderly Mohawk and Ilion residents delivering gifts bags of food.
The Herkimer County Office for the Aging identifies households that would benefit from the gift bags. The Office for the Aging also puts together a list of nutritious, nonperishable foods to distribute.
In the past, the Student Council has purchased items for the bags, but this year student, parent, and staff donations provided all the needed items.
This community outreach is typical of the efforts of many individuals and clubs at Central Valley.
