Freshman Anna Mead will represent CVA at the 22nd Congressional District Art Show in Binghamton.

CVA freshman Anna Mead will show in the upcoming 22nd Congressional District art show in Binghamton. She earned her place in the show by medaling in the 34th Annual Congressional Institute Art Competition held in March at Herkimer College’s Cogar Art Gallery.

Each year, one outstanding artist from the 22nd Congressional District is selected to show his or her artwork at a yearlong exhibition at the U.S. Capitol. Anna will vie for that honor when she competes against high school artists from Broome, Chenango, Cortland, Herkimer, Madison, Oneida, Oswego and Tioga counties. Congressman Richard Hanna (R-NY-22) will present the awards during a public ceremony 11 a.m.-noon on Saturday, Apr. 18.

CVA art teacher Winnie Dunn-Jones currently teaches Anna and selected Anna’s work as an entry in the area show at Herkimer College.

“It pleases me to thank all of her art instructors who have assisted her in her art endeavors throughout her school years at Central Valley School District.  Thank you.” said Mrs. Dunn-Jones.

The reception will be held at the Roberson Museum & Science Center, 30 Front St., Binghamton on Apr. 18 at 11 a.m. to noon.
