Fisher receives $1000 from Hannaford

The Herkimer Hannaford Supermarket recently presented Fisher Elementary School with a check for $1,000 through the “Hannaford Helps Schools” program. Fisher will use the money to help fund its Character Education program.

“We want to thank both Hannaford and the families who signed up to have their Hannaford purchases to be credited to Fisher Elementary,” said Library Clerk Mary Day who helped coordinate the Fisher effort to encourage parents and friends to participate in the program.

Under the program, Hannaford customers received three “school dollars”–equivalent to cash for their school–for every four participating products purchased. This year’s program involves more than 30 brand partners and 720 products, including products from Procter & Gamble, Tropicana, Unilever, General Mills, McCain, The Switch, Fresh Express, Wyman’s and many others. Schools in each community that raised the most money also received an additional $1,000.

Since its inception, Hannaford Helps Schools has raised more than $8.5 million for schools in New England and New York. and more than, $500,000 in 2013-14 alone.
