Fisher students explore the world of book publishing

Local author from Mohawk Mary Shepherd reads her book, “The Adventures of Molly and her Dollies” to Fisher Elementary students.

Mrs. Barr’s students explored the world of book publishing when Mrs. Mary Shepherd, a local author and illustrator from Mohawk visited the class as a guest reader. Mrs. Shepherd wrote the story The Adventures of Molly and her Dollies.  In the story the dollies come to life and have many adventures with Molly. The students enjoyed the story especially since her children Benjamin and Molly attend Fisher Elementary too.

Not only did Mrs. Shepherd read to the class, she explained the writing process. She started with an idea and based the story around the lives of her children. The entire process from writing and illustrating to publishing took two years. Mrs. Shepherd is now working on another book project starring her son Benjamin.
