Girls modified hoops get a look at collegiate level

Photo of Jarvis girls basketball playersWhat does it take to step into the upper echelon of collegiate sports? The easiest way to answer that is to watch a top college team in action.

Jarvis Middle School’s seventh and eighth grade girls basketball teams got that opportunity when they watched the Syracuse University Orange Women’s basketball team take on the #14 Louisville Cardinals at the Orange Dome on Monday, Jan 25. Although not nationally ranked, the Orange women hang tough with the best programs in the nation.

The girls saw great basketball, made it on the the giant overhead screen, and had a fun time.

“Trips like these show our Thunder what it takes to be successful at the higher levels. Our ladies saw the result of years of practice and dedication. We hope it inspires them to reach ever higher,” said Superintendent Rich Hughes.
