Hall of Fame inductions to be biennial event; next class to be 2021

The Central Valley School District Hall of Fame induction ceremony will now be a biennial event. The next induction will be Spring 2021. The Hall of Fame committee had held an annual induction for the Hall of Fame’s first three years.

“As a committee, we felt strongly that we wanted to recognize as many deserving alumni as we could in our first years, so we made the Hall of Fame an annual event,” said Hall of Fame committee member and CVA principal Dick Keeler.

“After that first flush of inductees, we find the number of nominations have tapered off. The committee decided to go every other year to make certain each induction class reflects the high standards of the Hall of Fame.”

What is the Hall of Fame?

The Central Valley CSD Hall of Fame recognizes alumni who served the Mohawk, Ilion, and Central Valley school districts, those who served community, and those who distinguished themselves in their careers.

The Hall of Fame committee, made up of school and community representative, selects Hall of Fame members from a list of people nominated by friends and family.

Anyone may nominate an alumnus through an online form or on a paper form available as a download or from the district office. All nomination forms and supporting documents are due Dec. 15 each year. The Central Valley School District Hall of Fame Selection Committee reviews the nominations and selects those they feel meet the criteria described in the Hall of Fame Constitution.

Inductees are invited back for a formal induction ceremony and luncheon. Each honoree also receives a plaque acknowledging his or her contributions.

The Hall of Fame is self-sustaining; it receives no school district funding. To help underwrite the cost of the luncheon and the plaques, the committee invites local businesses and individuals to sponsor a table at the annual induction luncheon. Contributors will be recognized at the induction and on the district website for their commitment to promote this proud local tradition.
