On Friday, May 6, 30 Jarvis Middle School seventh grade students attended Herkimer BOCES’ Construction Day. Students rotated through more than 20 different stations where they learned about building construction, welding, masonry, plumbing, electrical, sheet metal, architecture, measurement, and pipefitting. On-hand were representatives from the Laborers International Union, Clinton Tractor, White’s Farm Supply, operating engineers, roofers, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, JC Smith. A highlight was the heavy equipment demonstration. Students even had a chance to operate many of the machines and participate in the demonstrations.
