CVA senior Jared Marquissee signed his letter of intent to play baseball for the University of Albany on Wednesday, June 18.

A letter of intent is a binding agreement between an NCAA school and a student-athlete in which the student-athlete agrees to attend the school for one year and the school agrees to provide financial aid to the student-athlete.

Jared’s baseball future nearly came to an end last spring when he injured his ulnar nerve. After surgery and six months of rehabilitation, he found himself back on the mound for the CVA Thunder. The left-hander was a league standout with a 3-1 record, one save and a 1.88 ERA. He struck out 47 while walking just 6. He was equally productive at the plate, leading the team in all but two offensive categories.  He it .451 with nine doubles and two triples. His slugging percentage was a staggering .706 and his on base percentage was .500.

“He is a great kid who never looks for recognition. He deserves all of this,” said his baseball coach Shawn Wiles.
