Meet the Class of 2019 valedictorian and salutatorian

Valedictorian Jade Shepardson and salutatorian Carter Wynn

Central Valley School District is pleased to recognize Class of 2019 valedictorian Jade Shepardson and salutatorian Carter Wynn.

Jade Shepardson distinguished herself in the classroom, community and extracurricular school activities. She is, first and foremost, an avid reader and excellent student. She served as treasurer of the Book Club and president of the writing club. She was also an active member of National Honor Society, Math Club, Art Club and Drama Club. She was selected an Observer Dispatch Teen All-Star as a student who excels both academically and in extracurricular activities. She was a leader of the varsity field hockey team. Outside of school, she participated in the Adopt-a-Highway Program, served meals to the less fortunate, and participated in numerous food drives.

Jade will attend Hofstra University in the fall, majoring in Computer Science. She is the daughter of Robert and Sandra Shepardson of Mohawk.

In addition to being an outstanding student, Carter Wynn is recognized as a leader in the CVA Navy National Defense Cadet Corps. He rose to become Platoon Commander and Operations Officer. He served in the NNDCC Color Guard, participating at many local veteran ceremonies, holiday celebrations and parades. He was an active member of the Math Club, National Honor Society, and Pep Band.

In the fall, Carter plans to attend RPI on a ROTC Scholarship for Mechanical Engineering. He is the son of Cherine and David Snyder of Ilion.
