Meet Jarvis Assistant Principal Aaron Carey

What do you like best about what you do?

Working with students, teachers, parents and the community to provide the best opportunities for the students.

What event here at Central Valley CSD has made/makes a difference to you personally and in your career?

Being offered the opportunity to be an Assistant Principal in the district.

Where are you involved outside of school and what do you like best about it?

What former jobs have you held?

I worked in the restaurant industry for 12 years and in the construction industry do plumbing and electrical work for 10 years. In education, I was a Health/Physical Education teacher, Junior/Senior High School principal and Director of Physical Education and Athletics.

Where were you educated?

Remsen Central School, Mohawk Valley Community College, East Stroudsburg University (PA) and SUNY Cortland.

Where have you lived?

Remsen, NY; Pocono Mountain, PA; Inlet, NY, Old Forge and Rome

If you could do anything on a weekend, what would you do?

Any outdoor activity (hiking, running, biking, boating)

What book and/or author are you currently reading?

“The Motivated Brain” by Gayle Gregory and Martha Kaufeldt

If we were to listen to your iPod or sound system, what would be playing?

It was on shuffle when I turned it on—Dave Matthews was playing.

What is your favorite television show/movie/actor?

Currently watching NCIS.

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?

Europe to experience the various cultures and take in the historical aspects and landmarks.

What one thing would you share that people might not know about you?

I completed the Lake Placid Iron Man (140.6 miles) in July.
