Hi! My name is Kimberly Pierce and I teach PK-1 music at Fisher Elementary
How long have you been teaching or working in the district?
What do you like best about what you do?
I love teaching a class that kids look forward to every day. I try to make it fun and interesting, and there’s nothing more rewarding than to hear a kid tell me that they love music.
Where are you involved outside of school and what do you like best about it?
I get involved pretty much anywhere I am needed in my community. I have played in the Dolgeville Community Band for years and have even served as director alongside my husband. I’ve also played in the orchestra for several school musical productions at my children’s school.
What former jobs have you held?
During the summers when college was not in session, I would return home and work in the Rawling’s factory lacing footballs to earn money for the upcoming college year. I laced around 500 footballs a day! I would then teach voice and instrument lessons at my home in the evening. I got my first teaching job in 1994 teaching K-12 music at Poland Central School.
Where were you educated?
I grew up in the valley and graduated from Dolgeville High School. I then earned my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from The Crane School of Music, SUNY Potsdam.
What book and/or author are you currently reading?
“Into the Water” by Paula Hawkins. I really like mysteries and books that make me think. I’ve discovered that I like authors such as Stieg Laarson, Paula Hawkins, and Liane Moriarty.
If we were to listen to your iPod or sound system, what would be playing?
It really depends on my mood. I have a mix of everything from Classical, jazz, easy listening, and rock.
What is your favorite television show/movie/actor?
I like “Chicago P.D.” (and Fire and Med). I also like “The Middle”.
If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
London. I’ve always wanted to visit London and see the sights.
What one thing would you share that people might not know about you?
One of my favorite things to do is to boogie board in the ocean with my daughter. I’ve become quite skilled at catching waves!
