Meet staff member Amy Brien

Photo of Amy BrienHi! My name is Amy Brien. I am a first grade teacher at Fisher Elementary School. I have been teaching 10 years at Fisher.

What do you like best about what you do?

I teach first grade and I get to see so much growth in the kids. I love sharing my enthusiasm for learning with the kids.

What event here at Central Valley CSD has made/makes a difference to you personally and in your career?

The Spring Carnival is a wonderful fun event for all the kids and staff.

Where are you involved outside of school and what do you like best about it?

AYSO and Mohawk T-Ball. I like it because I get to spend time with my kids.

What former jobs have you held?

I was a veterinarian Assistant for over 10 years.

Where were you educated?

Herkimer County Community College, Ithaca and College of St. Rose.

Where have you lived?

Ithaca and Ilion, NY

If you could do anything on a weekend, what would you do?

Go for a hike in the Adirondacks.

What book and/or author are you currently reading?

I plan on reading Best Kept Secrets by Sandra Brown.

If we were to listen to your iPod or sound system, what would be playing?

Aerosmith, Train, David Gray.

What is your favorite television show/movie/actor?

Life in Pieces, Big Bang Theory or any movie with Nicolas Cage.

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?

Disney because I want to see the magic in my kids’ eyes.

What one thing would you share that people might not know about you?

I originally went to college to be a Foley Artist (make sound effects for movies) but changed my mind and became a teacher after working with children one summer.
