Hi! My name is Andrew Caswell. I am a strings teacher at CVA.
What do you like best about what you do?
I love getting students to think deeply and outside of the box.
What event here at Central Valley CSD has made/makes a difference to you personally and in your career?
This is just my first year, so ask me later.
Where are you involved outside of school and what do you like best about it?
I love fitness, sports, cooking, and nutrition. I love the challenge of trying to train and fuel my body and mind to be the best it can possibly be. I love Olympic lifting, Crossfit, golf, hockey, running, and tennis. My favorite meal to cook is sweet potatoes with beats, ground beef, and sage. So delicious and good for you!
What former jobs have you held?
When I was in high school, I worked at a chicken farm in my hometown. My job was to take the egg cartons filled with eggs, put them in boxes, and then lift the heavy boxes onto high shelves. Occasionally, I would drop some of the boxes and 15-30 dozen eggs would break all over me and the floor. Very messy job!
Where were you educated?
Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam
Where have you lived?
I have lived in Plattsburgh, Potsdam, and Guilderland
If you could do anything on a weekend, what would you do?
I would bake yummy food and watch “The Office.”
What book and/or author are you currently reading?
If we were to listen to your iPod or sound system, what would be playing?
What is your favorite television show/movie/actor?
If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
Germany because I love the language, the culture, and the food.
What one thing would you share that people might not know about you?
My favorite thing to do outside of school is train in Olympic Lifting. I enjoy improving my technique because I find it very similar to improving my technique on the violin.
