Hi! My name is Conrad Phillips. I am an English teacher at Central Valley Academy. I have been teaching for 35 years.
What do you like best about what you do?
I like to see the eureka moment when students connect prior knowledge to what we are doing. I like watching students as they become young adults.
What event here at Central Valley CSD has made/makes a difference to you personally and in your career?
Dancing at a student assembly has opened my eyes to a myriad of career opportunities when I retire.
Where are you involved outside of school and what do you like best about it?
I am a big blues fan and I love playing out. My instrument is an amplified harmonica.

Tool room machinist and house painter.

If you could do anything on a weekend, what would you do?
I’d visit a Victorian estate and gardens; then have dinner out at a nice restaurant.
What book and/or author are you currently reading?
Charles Dickens – Little Doritt.
If we were to listen to your iPod or sound system, what would be playing?
My tastes are eclectic – could be Traffic, any number of blues artists, classic rock, jazz or classical music.
What is your favorite television show/movie/actor?
I don’t watch TV. Really!
If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
Nepal – the rooftop of the world. Also I like the Buddhist culture.
What one thing would you share that people might not know about you?
I really do enjoy my job, especially working with teenagers. Many have kept in touch with me over the years and I enjoy hearing their life stories.
