Hi! My name is Jennifer Dempsey. I teach math at Jarvis Middle School and have been teaching for 14 years.
What do you like best about what you do?
I enjoy being able to interact with my students and getting to know each one’s unique personality. I also enjoy helping students learn new concepts. Each day is a new adventure!
Where were you educated?
I received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Flagler College in St. Augustine, FL, and my Master’s degree in Middle Grades Math Education from Walden University.
What former jobs have you held?
Before I started teaching, I was a personal trainer at a gym in Florida. I also interned during college as a counselor and teaching assistant in the children’s psychiatric ward at Halifax Hospital in Daytona Beach, FL.
Where have you lived?
After graduating from Ilion High School, I moved to Florida. Following that, I lived near Ashville, N.C.
If you could do anything on a weekend, what would you do?
I would go on a weekend getaway with my family to a place where we could spend time outdoors, see new sights, and relax.
What book and/or author are you currently reading?
I just started the “Nightingale” by Kristin Hannah.
What is your favorite television show/movie/actor?
One of my favorite television series is “Lost.” We have binge-watched the entire series on Netflix twice.
If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
I would love to go to Hawaii to enjoy the beautiful beaches!
