Hi! My name is Lorraine Burney. I am a Music teacher at Barringer Road Elementary School and have been teaching for 23 years.
What do you like best about what you do?
Music is my passion; it has been since I was very young. So, when I see the students growing as musicians, that is what I love about what I do.
What event here at Central Valley CSD has made/makes a difference to you personally and in your career?
The merger has made a difference for my career. It has been an exciting experience seeing the music department grow and become more effective for our students at Central Valley Thunder!
Where are you involved outside of school and what do you like best about it?
I am a singer so singing in various organizations and events is a big part of what I do when I am not teaching at Barringer Road. I also teach in the evening at Herkimer College.

Where have you lived?
I have lived a number of places:
New York City, Florida, Texas and Central New York.
If you could do anything on a weekend, what would you do?
Traveling is a great way to spend the weekend; Seeing as much of the Central New York area as possible.
What book and/or author are you currently reading?
Joel Osteen’s You Can You Will.
If we were to listen to your iPod or sound system, what would be playing?
I like a variety of music styles so it really could be anything from opera to gospel.
What is your favorite television show/movie/actor?
The Blacklist; I like all kinds of documentaries.
If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
Europe – The history and the culture are so rich that I need to experience it first hand.
What one thing would you share that people might not know about you?
I can talk with my mouth closed. 😀 LOL!
