Meet staff member Michael Farber

Photo of Jarvis teacher Michael FarberHi! My name is Michael Farber. I am a sixth grade science/STREAM teacher at Jarvis and have been teaching for seven years.

What do you like best about what you do?

I really enjoy seeing the students become interested in science and the topics being covered.

What event here at Central Valley CSD has made/makes a difference to you personally and in your career?

I am really excited for “No Guts No Glory” which started this year at Jarvis Middle School.

Where are you involved outside of school and what do you like best about it?

I love to hike, run, and bike. I really enjoy competing in triathlons during the summer months.

What former jobs have you held?

Substitute teacher and a chef at the Overlook Mansion in Little Falls.

Where were you educated?

Little Falls High School and SUNY Oneonta.

Where have you lived?

Little Falls and Herkimer.

If you could do anything on a weekend, what would you do?

Go camping with my family.

What book and/or author are you currently reading?

Any book my four or six year old would like to read. Currently it is a Magic Tree House book.

If we were to listen to your iPod or sound system, what would be playing?

Mostly country but with a mix of all other types.

What is your favorite television show/movie/actor?

The Big Bang Theory.

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?

So many places. I guess the Glapagos Islands because of all the unique species of animals.

What one thing would you share that people might not know about you?

I have a goal of completing a full Iron Man Triathlon some day.
