I worked as a substitute in Mohawk School District for the 2011-12 school year and was hired by the district in 2012.
What do you like best about what you do?
I really enjoy meeting old and forming new relationships with the students and faculty. As a rotational aide I love seeing the different grade levels and how they progress and learn at the different levels.
Where are you involved outside of school and what do you like best about it?
I am heavily involved in my husband’s dairy farm. We milk about 100 cows organically and also raise hogs, sheep and beef selling local organic meat. We also grow and sell garlic. I work full time on the farm all summer and part time during the school year. I love the farm life, it was what I went to school for! I also have a horse and enjoy riding in my spare time.
Where were you educated?
I graduated from Morrisville State College with my Associate’s Degree in Agricultural Science and continued on to Cornell University in which I graduated with my B.S. in Animal Science.
Where have you lived?
I am originally from WNY, Angola which is 30 minutes south of Buffalo. I ended up here as I met my husband in college and moved here after I graduated.
If you could do anything on a weekend, what would you do?
It would be a toss up between a cattle show or just a nice weekend working on the farm, riding my horse and spending time with my husband Aaron.
What one thing would you share that people might not know about you?
I recently learned I was selected as a recipient of the Generation Organic Recognition Award for 2014. This is a great honor as I was selected by fellow farmers and staff in recognition of my leadership and dedication to organic farming.
