Parents can now access the New York State Education Department's  Parent Dashboard. The dashboard presents school-related information in a user-friendly manner.

Users can find information about:

  • Enrollment
  • Average Class Size
  • School Climate
  • Accountability Status
  • Assessment Results
  • Financial Transparency
  • 4-Year Graduation Rate
  • College, Career, and Civic Readiness

This information has always been available on the SED website. The new Parent Dashboard makes data easily accessible and addresses a federal requirement that all state and local agencies receiving Title I funding provide the public with an annual report card evaluating school performance and progress. The dashboard supplements School Report Cards that are also available on SED’s website.

"The New York State Education Department (SED) has developed a Parent Dashboard to meet these requirements in a way that is informative and user-friendly for parents and the public," according to Rose LeRoy, SED’s director of educational data and research. "With this dashboard, SED aims to provide a resource that is truly valuable and will serve as a model for other states." Creating a Parent Dashboard was part of SED’s plan to comply with the federal Every Student Succeeds Act, which emphasizes equity in education for all students and expands measures of school accountability and student success. SED began outreach to parents and other stakeholders to guide the work of developing the Parent Dashboard in 2019. This year, SED plans to gather additional feedback from parents and stakeholders "to guide further enhancements."
