Why a virtual learning day?

"Our students need the practice should a COVID-19 outbreak force some or all of our students to learn from home," said Superintendent Jeremy Rich.

"We will use our Early Release Day to practice distributing Chromebooks and materials to our students. The next day, our students will log in to their Google Classrooms and practice virtual learning."

In anticipation of a COVID-19 outbreak, teachers are using in-person class time to reinforce tech skills. In addition to their school subjects, students learn to log in to their devices and connect to their learning materials.

"This Practice Virtual Learning Day will give our in-person students and and their families a chance to work with remote learning. We will be able to identify and fix any problems before we are forced to go virtual," he said.

Details sent home by Fisher and Barringer

On Friday, October 2 nd the Central Valley School District will be having a Practice Virtual Learning Day for all students K-6. This means students will not be attending school in person, but will work virtually from home on their Chromebooks. We are holding this Virtual Learning Day to ensure that the students/parents are able to log in properly, navigate assignments, become familiar with the Google Classroom platform, and figure out any log in issues/concerns.

Students will be sent home with Chromebooks on Thursday, October 1st. ALL Chromebooks will need to be returned back to school on Monday, October 5th. Please make it a priority to send them back because your child will need it available to them in class as well.

We are asking all students to follow a modified schedule that will be provided by their classroom teacher. In addition, your child's teacher will provide the necessary log in information and directions on how to access Google Classroom. Please practice logging in with your child.

Example of a modified Practice Virtual Learning Schedule 8:30-10:30:
