Dial 2-1-1 – First Call for Help

United Way of the Valley and Greater Utica Area, Inc.

Connects people with community, health and disaster services through a free, confidential, 24/7 phone service and searchable online database. 2-1-1 contact centers are staffed by trained specialists who quickly assess the callers’ needs and refer them to the help they need. 2-1-1 services are accessible to everyone through multilingual capabilities.

Mobile Crisis Assessment Team (MCAT)

The Neighborhood Center

Crisis intervention, face-to-face client/situation stabilization services to divert non-lethal individuals from the county’s psychiatric emergency departments. Coordinates with schools, medical/mental health providers and other agencies to provide crisis intervention and to help monitor clients who are at risk.L inks individuals to mental health services. Services include crisis hotline, mental health assessment, crisis de-escalation and de­briefing, follow-up to services, and alerts to identify and assist those at an increased risk,  For crisis services- CALL: (315) 732-6228, 24-hours a day, 7-days a week.

Crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer & questioning (LGBTQ) young people under 25.

NYS Child Abuse Hotline

The Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment

24/7 hotline receives calls regarding suspected child abuse and maltreatment. If you suspect a child has been harmed or is at risk, please dial 1-800-342-3 720, to report what you have seen or heard.

Sexual Violence Services

YWCA Mohawk Valley

NYS-certified provider of sexual violence crisis services. Services are always confidential, free, and provided regardless of when the abuse occurred or if it was reported. 24-hour hotline 315-866-4120.

Herkimer County Domestic Violence Hotline

Catholic Charities of Herkimer County

Crisis and supportive services to victims of domestic violence and their children. Services include; safe, temporary shelter for victims of domestic violence, supportive counseling; support, accompaniment and advocacy through legal, medical, housing and social services systems. The Domestic Violence Program provides support group activities as well as information and referral. 24-hour hotline number is 315-866-0458.

Runaway and Homeless Youth Program

Catholic Charities of Herkimer County

Support for runaway, homeless, and at-risk youth up to the age of 21. Services include 24-hour crisis hotline, emergency housing, crisis and on-going counseling for youth and families, transportation, independent living skills, referrals, academic tutoring; and advocacy. 24-hour hotline number is 315-866-1112.

Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration

24/7, toll-free, confidential, crisis support service, providing immediate crisis counseling and support for people who are experiencing emotional distress related to any natural or human-caused disaster.  Stress, anxiety, and other depression-like symptoms are common reactions after a disaster.
