Fitness Center

The Central Valley Central School District Fitness Center is open to all residents of the district for use free of charge. It is located at Central Valley Academy. The facility houses high-quality equipment for all your fitness needs including cardio machines, strength training machines and free weights.

Spring 2024 Closings

  • Fri., Feb. 16-Sun., Feb. 25 — closed for Midwinter Recess

  • Thur., Mar. 28-Sun., Apr. 7—closed for Spring Recess

  • Mon., May 27—closed for Memorial Day

  • Wed., June 13—closed for Juneteenth

  • Thur., June 27—closed until Fall

Public use

Hours of Operation

  • Monday – Friday 4-8 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

  • Closed during holidays and school breaks. Signs will be posted on the front doors to notify the public of closures in advance.

  • Closed when school is not in session due to inclement weather (snow days).

Fitness Center Guidelines

  • Proof of Central Valley CSD residency is required. You must be a district resident or pay Central Valley CSD taxes, in order to use the facility. Supervision workers reserve the right to request proof of residency when in question.

  • All visitors must sign in. Sign-in sheets are found at the registration desk. Please sign in upon arrival whether using the fitness center or track.

  • Street shoes are not permitted. In an effort to protect the equipment, you are required to bring a clean, dry pair of footwear to change into once you enter the center.

  • Disinfect machines after EVERY use. Disinfectant cleaner and paper towels are provided for your use. Please be considerate of the next person using the machine by cleaning.

  • No food, gum, or colored drinks are allowed. Please bring clear water only.

  • Age requirement. Central Valley Academy students are able to use the facility after they have had an orientation in their physical education class. Eighth graders may work out with a parent or guardian. Students younger than eighth grade are not able to use the fitness center.

  • Current Central Valley students. CVA or Central Valley Pathways students must be in good standing in their school.

  • Former CVA students. Students who have graduated need to be issued a fitness center resident member card by attending a refresher orientation class.

Indoor Track

The indoor track above the main gym is open for use during community fitness center hours to Central Valley Central School District residents free of charge. One mile on the indoor track is 13 laps. NOTE: The track is closed to community when the track is in use by a CVA sports team.

  • You must sign in and sign out at the fitness center registration desk upon entering and leaving the track.

  • Please change footwear before entering the track. In an effort to keep the track free of mud, salt, water, etc., street shoes should not be worn.

  • Attending a fitness center orientation class is not required if you are only using the track.

  • Students younger than ninth grade are not permitted on the track.

Student use

Hours of Operation

  • School Days: 11:30 a.m.- 4 p.m. Monday/Tuesday & Thursday/ Friday. Wednesday 1 p.m. - 4 p.m.

  • Lunch periods: Grades 11-12

  • Study Halls: Grades 9-12 in academic good standing with a pre-signed pass from the Fitness Center. Please plan ahead to have your passbook signed, and all students must report to study hall first.

  • After school: All students grades 9-12 and athletes in grade 8 with written parental permission

  • LADIES LIFT: Wednesdays 3-4 p.m.

Important guidelines

  • Small groups welcome during Phys Ed classes, please coordinate with your teacher and Mr. or Mrs. Hoffman. This is ideal for beginners or ladies only groups.

  • All school rules, dress code, and proper gym etiquette are expected to be followed. Show respect for each other and the space/equipment.

  • Sneakers with laces are required for workouts. Crocs, work boots, slippers, slide sandals, and Hey Dudes are not permitted.

500/1000 Pound Club

  • Students must pre-test and follow the assigned training schedule, please reach out to Mr. or Mrs. Hoffman to schedule an orientation. Students should coordinate with their coach to test while currently playing a sport.
