Grade 8 - updated 7/28/23

All subjects:

  • A string bag to bring things from class to class.  Backpacks should be stored in lockers and not brought from class to class, they are big and harmful to kids' backs and can cause a tripping hazard.

  • Earbuds, Airpods or headphones to use in class on your Chromebook.

  • 3 ring binder for most subjects

    • 1 1/2 “- 2” is good.

    • One for each subject is preferable than one big one.

    • A pocket inside for homework or a separate pocket folder.

  • Loose leaf paper (always keep some available, don’t keep too much)

  • Pens/pencils (suggested a case that goes in your binder is good)

Subject specific:

  • Math 8

    • Lots of pencils

    • Scientific calculator TI 30XIIS

    • Graph paper or Composition Graphing Notebook (all math)

  • Science 8 and Living Environment

    • Composition notebook (Science 8 only)

  • ELA 8

    • 3-subject spiral notebook

    • 2-pocket folder

  • Studio Art

    • Mixed media sketchbook (50+ pages, Canson recommended)

    • Folder

    • Pencils

  • Chorus

    • Folder (any color/design of your choice, but I recommend something durable, like a poly Five Star Folder that will last the whole year)

Note: Many 8th grade teachers use an online learning management system, either Google Classroom or Buzz. Students complete many of their assignments digitally, which greatly reduces the supply needs.
