Parade of Graduates tradition continues

On Thursday, May 25, the Central Valley Academy Class of 2017 proudly donned their caps and gowns and walked the halls of Barringer Road Elementary, Fisher Elementary, and Jarvis Middle School.

The younger students lined the halls in the buildings, holding signs and cheering on the seniors.

CVA Principal Dick Keeler said the parade reminds the seniors that they are roles models.

“They have completed their 13 years of school, played sports, acted in plays— all the things the youngsters dream of.” he said.

For the elementary and middle school teachers, it was a bittersweet moment. More than one wiped tears from their eyes as their former students passed by.

He also recognizes the lasting impression this might have on a young student.
