Mohawk Valley Rotary President Heather Irons, Secretary Bonny Brownrigg, Treasurer Elyse Enea Bellows, President- Elect Cindy Bennett, Fisher Principal Michele Pilla, and Thunder Superintendent Dr. Richard Hughes pose with school supplies.

On Thursday, Sept. 8, representatives of the Mohawk Valley Rotary Club visited Harry M. Fisher Elementary School to present Principal Michele Pilla with school supplies to distribute to students whose families may not be able to afford them.

“We cannot begin to thank our Rotarians for playing this important part in the education of our youngest Thunder,” Mrs. Pilla said.

The gift was the result of the Rotary’s first annual School Supply Drive, which launched earlier this summer and ran until Sept. 6.

“This effort is just another example of the community coming together and helping students start the school year with everything they need to help them with their education,” said Club President Heather Irons.

The Mohawk Valley Rotary Club would like to thank everyone who made donations to the School Supply Drive.

“There are a lot of moving parts that go into making this drive a success and we could never pull it off without the dedication and support of donors and volunteers,” said Irons.

School administrators and staff will distribute the school supplies over the next several days.
