Help plot the course for Central Valley

The Central Valley Board of Education has embarked on a Strategic Planning initiative for the 2016-17 school year and they would like to invite you to participate in the process. This community-wide effort will develop a long-range vision for our school district that establishes core values, shared purpose, strategic objectives and action plans. Through the combined efforts of the whole school community, we will be able to reinvent our school district in order to provide our students with an education that prepares them for today’s world and the challenges of tomorrow.

We will be using outside facilitators to assist us with our strategic planning process. As products of the planning process, we will develop a draft of our plan in the fall, develop measurement tools beginning in December, and create action plans starting in January.  Our process will take most of the school year and will culminate with the Board of Education’s consideration of the comprehensive strategic plan on March 30, 2016.

In order to assure we are meeting the needs of the community’s children, we must enlist the participation of the entire school community.  We need individuals from the community and schools to volunteer their time and expertise and become members of the “Strategic Planning Team” and the “Strategic Partners Team”.

Download the Strategic Planning Packet (PDF) to earn more about the teams and dates and to find the nomination form. You can volunteer to become a member of the team or nominate another individual who you believe would contribute to the efforts of the teams. Those willing to volunteer must be committed to attending each scheduled meeting for the chosen team. Nomination forms are due by October 16, 2015.  Please send them to the District Office or email to rhughes@cvalleycsd.org.

The benefits realized by our Thunder, through the implementation of the strategic plan, are directly related to the contributions of the school community in the planning process.  As shown by the dates and times, membership on a team will mean a large personal contribution of time and energy.  We hope that you will agree that these community-wide efforts will be well spent on the education of our children.

Thank you for considering my invitation to become a member of one of our planning teams and I look forward to our collaboration during the Strategic Planning process.  Do not hesitate to contact me if you have questions or desire additional information. Together we can help Central Valley become the best school district, not only in our county, but the Mohawk Valley region.
