Sixth grade visits New York City

Photo of Jarvis Sixth Grade trip to New York CityJarvis Middle School students will be visiting three historic cities this spring; New York City, Boston, MA, and Philadelphia, PA. Sixth grade students were the first to travel to New York City on May 9.

Students began their day at Liberty Science Center where they were able to explore a variety of exhibits ranging from solar and wind energy to robotics. After time at the Liberty Science Center, students and chaperones took a ferry to both Ellis Island and Liberty Island.

On Ellis Island, students walked through the footsteps of our nation’s immigrants. Many searched for records of their great, great grandparents. Liberty Island allowed the students to see the Statue of Liberty up close. Despite some rainy weather, the trip was a success.

188 members of the school community attended the field trip including students, parents, and staff. The sixth grade class wants to thank the community for their support during the fundraising events held to reduce the out-of-pocket cost of the trip.

Below are some photos of the trip. View more photos on the Central Valley School District Facebook page.
