In September, Fisher Elementary physical education teachers Tara Raux and Joe Patrei received a surprise visit from Meg Gibbons of the American Heart Association. Meg presented the teachers with gift certificates valued at over $1,000, redeemable for new physical education equipment at Fisher.

Fisher students earned the gift certificates for their outstanding support of the Jump Rope for Heart program held at the school last spring. Of all of the schools in the Central New York region, Fisher Elementary raised the most money for the Heart Association.

“Coach Patrei and I thank the Fisher community for the overwhelming support of the Jump Rope for Heart program and, of course, the wonderful students at Fisher Elementary for their amazing efforts toward Jump Rope success!” said Ms. Raux.

Additionally, the New York State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance Central North Zone will recognize Ms. Raux, Mr. Patrie and Fisher Elementary’s accomplishment at its annual meeting on Thursday, Nov. 6 in Canastota.
