Six Central Valley residents will vie for three open seats on the Central Valley Board of Education. Seeking election are incumbents Stephen Coupe, William Lennox, and Vicki Judd and challengers Matt Darrow, Jane North, and Kristen Rich. The top three vote-getters will be elected to three-year terms.
The board election takes place as part of the school district’s annual budget vote noon to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 in the Central Valley Academy small gymnasium, 111 Frederick St., Ilion.
To be eligible to vote, a person must be at least 18 years old, a U.S. citizen, and a resident of the Central Valley School District at least 30 days prior to the vote.
Voters who cannot be present to vote on May 17, may apply for an absentee ballot at the District Office during regular office hours, 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m., Monday-Friday. The deadline for applications is 5 p.m. on Monday, May 16. Completed ballots must be returned to District Clerk Marsha Griffith at the district office no later than 5 p.m. on Tuesday, May 17. Per New York State Education Department requirements, ballot order was determined by the drawing of lots. The names will appear on the ballot as follows:
