Voters approve 2016-17 budget

Central Valley School District voters went to polls on Tuesday, May 17 and approved the district’s proposed 2016-17 school budget. The budget passed with 85.7 percent in favor, exceeding the 60 percent supermajority needed for approval.

The $45,094,500 budget decreases spending 1.00 percent or $455,500 over the current year and carries a 1.00 percent tax levy decrease.

The final count was:

  • Yes— 902
  • No— 151

Voters also elected Jane North, Matt Darrow and Kristen Rich to the Board of Education. The final count for each candidate was:

  • Jane North—661
  • Matt Darrow—612
  • Kristen Rich—547
  • Bill Lennox—431
  • Stephen Coupe—408
  • Vicki Judd—333
  • Nine others received write-in votes
