Wrestlers celebrate season with three-school tour

After a season of hard work, the CVA wrestling team took a couple hours to share their success with elementary and middle school students on Monday, Feb. 27. The halls of Barringer Road, Fisher, and Jarvis signs, cheered, and shouted, “CVA, CVA.”

High school students can have a powerful effect on younger students. The tour was an opportunity to model the rewards of effort, self-discipline, and commitment.

The Thunder team set the bar for all who come after:

• New York State Dual Meet Champions (31-0)
• Section 3 Class B Champions
• Section 3 Division 2 Champions
• New York State Wrestling Tournament Champions

In addition, six wrestlers earned individual honors:

The celebration continued after the tour as Paesano’s Pizzeria owner Vinnie Cenevava provide the entire team with lunch. Other local groups have posted signs. Both Mohawk and Ilion villages are planning to add “home of champion” signs on their borders.

This is the first time Central Valley or either of the former districts achieved this level of success in wrestling.
