Central Valley School District Board of Education – Annual Budget Hearing

The Board of Education’s Annual Budget Hearing was called to order by President Jason Sanchez, at 7:00 p.m., in the LGI room at Central Valley Academy.  The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all those present.

PRESENTATION

Proposed 2023-2024 Budget

  • Mr. Humphrey presented a PowerPoint on the proposed 2023-2024 budget. The proposal of $58,598,417 represents a $75,000 tax levy increase over last year’s budget.

  • The Board reviewed a budget and property tax history from 2013-2014 through present.  The proposed budget is made up of three areas which include Program (63.30%) Capital (20.30%), and Administrative (16.4%).  Revenues are made up of state aid, property taxes, fund balance and other. Expenditures include general support, instruction, pupil transportation, debt service, employee benefits, and interfund transfers.

  • Budget documents are available for residents to review online, in school offices, and in the local libraries.

PUBLIC COMMENT

There was no public comment this evening.

Voting - Mr. Humphrey reported that voting will take place on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, from 12:00 noon – 8:00 p.m. in the small gym at Central Valley Academy.  In addition to the proposed budget, voters will be asked to elect three members to the Board of Education - two (2) vacancies for (3) year terms and (1) vacancy to commence immediately after the vote continuing until June 30, 2024.

ADJOURNMENT

On a motion made by Mr. Darrow, seconded by Mr. Costin, the Board adjourned at 7:21 p.m.  Motion carried 6-0.
